I take pictures simply to see how the world looks in a photograph. Our lives are set in a complex place with a lot of moving parts, but a photograph is still, simple, and understandable.
Seeing things in still frames helps me figure out what I think about my environment. Externalizing something is how I come to process it, and only then can it be integrated into what the world is to me - and so it is no shallow value that I place in photography.
I make my pictures as focused and sharp as my equipment allows in order to assist in this endeavor, and I find pride and satisfaction in achieving the technical skills required to do it with excellence.
I am not aiming to change hearts and minds with my photographs, I just want to let others see this rendering of the world through my images if they feel so inclined.
